Hair loss is common in men for many reasons.  Most people blame male hormones as the cause, yet this is obviously a foolish repsumption. Many people however, who develop illness do suffer from generalised hair loss over time. (This is not a male pattern baldness).  Generalized hair loss is common in most big illnesses. The significance of symptoms of hair loss are discussed. Causes of Hair Loss discussed include Hormonal Causes, Nutritional causes and Illnesses.

Women are also prone to male pattern hair loss if they have a condition called PCOS or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. This condition presents with symptoms of acne, hirsutism, ovarian cysts

In the future, Hair Loss may be a preventable or a treatable event.

Kinkajou Kinkajou: Why is My Hair Falling Out?

Erasmus Erasmus : In Dr. Xxxxx’s practice, this is a not infrequent problem. Many patients request a referral to a specialist such as an endocrinologist. Generally, there is no reason given for why the patient’s hair is coming out in clumps on their comb. Occasionally the patient, (especially if a young attractive female) will be diagnosed as having androgen sensitivity and be treated with a medication such as spironolactone. Occasionally, the patient even improves a bit on this medication.

In Dr. Xxxxx’s opinion, hair loss is not an issue for a knee jerk response. History and examination are very important as in most medical conditions. Back To Hair Loss Top

Dr XxxxxDR Xxxxx : The Paill Spectrum Disease Model as a Cause of Hair Loss

Paill Spectrum if it causes hair loss does so in a general “all-over” pattern of loss. The patient will not go bald. The hair loss tends to be present over months, which is consistent with the usual time scale of Paill Spectrum Illnesses, as given by the Paill Spectrum Disease model pioneered by Dr. Xxxxx. The hair loss can be summarised as occurring in an illness pattern.

If a disease reversal can be triggered, the hair regrowth will happen gradually back to more normal levels, but again any hair growth is diffuse and is very difficult for people to notice. It is far more likely that the patient just ceases to notice or find that there is hair on their comb, than to notice any change in the amount of hair they have.

Paill Spectrum makes people lose hair and they may fear losing their hair, but they do not go bald.

Erasmus Erasmus : Hair loss , or going bald is not a Paill Spectrum condition, so why mention it Dr Xxxxx?

Dr Xxxxx DR Xxxxx : I just get irked by how stupid medical explanations for this condition are. Hair loss is sex hormone related. Strangely, it occurs at a time in life when the androgen levels are dropping a lot in men, not rising. So the traditional explanation that its due to hormones is idiocy.

Dr AXxxxxDr Axxxx : A proper explanation would include that androgen influenced hair loss is triggered by a progressive change in DNA expression. Androgens influence this problem.

The basic issue seems to be the long term changes in scalp blood flow. Hair is lost on the scalp for the same reason that there is no hair on parts of the body such as parts of the face or even the back side. Your genes tell it not to be there.

Only vacuous medical idiots could continue mouthing useless and patently untrue platitudes explaining male pattern hair loss. It becomes obvious that to grow hair, you need to influence the genes in the scalp that affect blood flow and affect protein translation at the DNA level. Differing sensitivities to control signals throughout the body mean that this effect can be bypassed depending on the gene expression of the hair follicle itself.
