Erectile Dysfunction (in the accepted medical model), is regarded as a psychological problem for the majority of men. The medical model states "There is nothing wrong with the men, so it must be life or partner problems or other similar difficulties that are causing the inability to have and keep an erection". Certainly, the suburban myth exists that the best way to get and keep and erection is a “new young exciting” partner.
Strangely, for a largely psychological problem the accepted treatments are medications that change how the contractile tissues of the penis work. One would expect that if the problem were purely psychological, the treatment of choice would be a few good books etc.

.
Erasmus: This model pioneered by Dr. Xxxxx would disagree with the supposition that erectile dysfunction is a purely psychological problem. Dr. Xxxxx would regard erectile dysfunction as a purely physical problem. The basic problem with penis function is that the plumbing (arteries and veins) or the wiring (nerves) are damaged. Consequently, the penis does not work, or works poorly.
Scored recently?
Erasmus : There are a number of ways to overcome deficiencies in vascular plumbing or wiring. Increasing stimulation to the penis would work well. Hence, the modern trend to use medication to fix erection problems, begins to make sense in the Paill Spectrum model, alone.

In the usual medical model, this type of treatment should be unnecessary. If the problem is purely psychological as in the normal medical model, why should there be a need to prescribe medications?

The Paill Spectrum model explains the erectile problems better than the current medical model. There really is something physically wrong and a physical treatment is needed to fix the problem.
.
DR Xxxxx : The standard model suggests nothing, except take some medicines that make things work better. (Trigger the chemical receptor in the penis to produce an effect).
The Paill Spectrum model predicts that the underlying disease processes corroding the vascular plumbing and nerve wiring, will continue with resulting progressive deterioration of penile function. Eventually, in the Paill Spectrum model, things work progressively worse and worse, and may stop working. Back To Erectile Dysfunction Top
The progressive deterioration is quite slow. It may take years for things to completely stop working. In fact, for quite a few years, the problem will always respond to just a bit more stimulation to the vascular plumbing or nerve wiring. i.e. Increase the dose of the medication to make it work. You just need a bit more medicine.
The model predicts that once the vascular plumbing or nerve wiring is corroded too much to work, medical treatment will cease to be useful. :-| Back To Erectile Dysfunction Top
.
DR Xxxxx : Most men are very resistant to seeking medical help. By the time a case presents itself, the damage to local vascular plumbing or nerve wiring is far advanced. Treating the problem with the Paill Spectrum protocol at best will result in a stabilisation of the intensity of the problem and at worst will trigger an immune response which will wipe out what function is left. The later the presentation or the older the patient, the more likely that things will deteriorate with medical intervention.
The Paill Spectrum model of disease as developed by Dr. Xxxxx suggests that Paill Spectrum therapy is unlikely to guarantee an improvement.
The model does state that if things are due to get worse, they will get worse in any case, and there is no way to prevent this deterioration. Once local tissues are affected by the Paill Spectrum Syndrome, the only way to get rid of the affected tissues is to kill and clear away the affected cells. This will cause tissue damage over time without treatment, and often rapidly and acutely with treatment.

DR Xxxxx : Basic nutritional therapy may help to stabilise the condition and should be reasonably safe in most circumstances.
(See Basic Nutritional Therapy). This type of treatment is useful for general medical issues, but the Paill Spectrum model would predict that it is very unlikely to reverse any symptoms of erectile problems in men.
.
DR Xxxxx : Predictions for Other Medical Conditions, If the Paill Spectrum Model is correct:
What should a doctor suspect?
Common related problems include:
Probably the most significant observation about these predictions,
is that many of the health problems that develop in age are not really independent problems.
They all exist and may be connected by one underlying thread of causation,
namely Paill Spectrum.

.
.
DR Xxxxx : Nutritional problems are likely to be more common in this group than average. Because these patients already have a symptom (erectile problems), they are more likely to have worse nutritional problems than average exacerbating their Paill Spectrum infection, than most other “normal” people. These issues are worth treating in their own right, and can give substantial health benefits with quite basic treatment. Remember though, the erection problems may stabilise but they won't go away. If treatment triggers an immune flare, things may even get a lot worse.

Erasmus : The Paill Spectrum theory explains erectile dysfunction. Victims are told the problem is psychological: in their head. Difficulty getting and maintaining an erection is an increasingly common problem, until the advent of Viagra. Erectile Dysfunction was believed to be a purely psychological problem. The significance of symptoms under the Paill Spectrum model is discussed. Common associated symptoms in the Paill Spectrum model include: chronic fatigue, obesity, tennis elbow, erectile dysfunction, libido, bad erections, impotent, hypertension, erection failure.
Erasmus : Poor erection or losing ejections may be due to a treatable medical problem, not to psychological problems. Viagra is the main current treatment. Alternative mainstream treatments include other medications such as Cialis or Levitra or even intra penile injections with prostaglandin medications eg Caverject. PaillSpectrum model includes definition of the illness symptoms, signs, investigations and alternative prophylactic treatment. The Paill Spectrum model suggests some strategies for preventing further loss of function. Paill Spectrum model predicts that potency or erection quality will deteriorate with time if the underlying cause is not treated. Nutritional therapy is critical to minimise disease progression according to Dr Xxxxx.
